Remember a couple of days ago when I was talking about the New Year and stated that I don't make resolutions?
I still stand behind that statement.
But lately, in this ever-so-enveloping world of blogs, I've run across a few people who have been taken with the idea of choosing "one word" for 2010 and making it their word. It's kind of like a resolution, but at the same time so far from just a resolution. It's so much more encompassing than a resolution.
But it's not a resolution.
Because I don't do resolutions.
The weird thing is that for the past week or so I've really had this unsettled feeling in my "inner self" when my thoughts turn to the New Year. It's hard to put in to words really.
It's time for a change....
It's time to take life up a notch....
It's time to be more effective....
I just couldn't put my finger on it.
Then I read about the "one word" idea from my friend Shannan.
Then that "unsettled feeling" started growing and doing a few flips.
Which probably means I should do something about this "one word" idea.
So I've chosen a word. And I have to admit I cheated a little bit. I liked Shannan's word A LOT, but I thought it was kind of lame to copy her word.
So I used a thesaurus.
Same word, only different.
And my word for 2010 is
Deliberate
In 2010 I will be more deliberate with
my faith,
my family,
my health,
my finances,
my cleaning,
my interactions with my kids,
my Bible reading,
my running,
my friendships...
You get the point.
That's my word. And I'm sticking to it.
And it's NOT a resolution.

But it sounds so...resolute!
ReplyDeleteGreat word. I bet I'd like that friend of yours...
So what we have here is a deliberate attempt to NOT have a NY resolution...well, looks like you are well on your way to keeping your faux-non-resolution word going! :) (ok, did that even make sense?)
ReplyDeleteGreat word!! I'm trying to be more "deliberate" about the same things in life right now...I just haven't made that my word b/c my NY resolution is to not choose a word ;) haha just kidding.
ReplyDeleteI hope 2010 is a great year for you!
God's up to something, Jess! I can't help but be amazed at it. And He's using you.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great word. I would say that was my word for 2009 ... and since I didn't stick to it throughout the whole year, it's my word for 2010, too. :)
ReplyDeleteI love that word! I love what you expressed. This will be a great year for you! Thanks for sharing.
